Your iPod says plenty about you

Recently, while shopping at a big-box electronics store for holiday gifts, I turned into an aisle and found myself being jostled by frantic shoppers shouldering each other out of the way in an attempt to snag one of the hottest items on the market.

No, they weren’t searching for the Nintendo Wii or the PlayStation 3. Instead, they were grabbing for one of the revolutionary products that changed life as we knew it.

I’m talking, of course, about the iPod.

This October the world marked the fifth anniversary of the miniature music box. It may be difficult for some of the younger generation to remember, but there was a time when people actually wandered around without little white buds hanging from their ears. All of that changed, however, on Oct. 23, 2001 — the day that Apple unveiled the iPod.
